May your Days be Filled with Love at the Table Rock Dam in Branson

Valentine season is a good time to experience the fun and excitement at the Table Rock Dam in Branson. This dam was created during 1954-1958 to generate hydro-electric power. You can get up close of the view of the Table Rock Dam by a tour guide. See for yourself how this massive structure creates hydro-electric power while maintaining the pristine water of the 43,000 acre Table Rock Lake. Table Rock Dam and Powerhouse tours are available daily from March through October. During the tour, you can find dozens of natural attractions along the lakes such as the wildlife, the scenic beauty of the forests, and the shoreline which are preserved by the area's conservationists.

The Table Rock Dam was constructed to provide flood control on the White River. Before the creation of the dam, floods put the entire towns underwater and many families packed their valuable possessions for safety. Congressman Dewey Short lobbied for the support of the construction of the Table Rock Dam. Dewey Short Visitor Center was named in his honor for his efforts. When the dam was constructed, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers handled its operations. Today, the dam is one of the most popular visitors' destinations in the Ozarks. At the lakeside, there are several hiking trails you can enjoy, this include the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery (located below the dam). If you drive along Highway 165 that goes over the top of the dam, you can view the fascinating sight of the most historic structure in the area.

Around the lakes, you will find lots of activities to enjoy. You can go boating, swimming or fishing on Taneycomo and Bull Shoals. You can also take a ride with Ride the Ducks on the river or take a river cruise with Showboat Branson Belle. In the coves of Table Rock Lake, full-service marinas offer abundance of delicious treats.  If you are boating in the lake, you can grab delicious foods and other supplies while you are refueling the boat.  At Table Rock Dam, there are fine restaurants that offer dine-in seating. Several eateries can be found in the Kimberling City area of Table Rock Lake that offers casual choices to home favorites. Restaurants in Table Rock Lake also offer evening entertainments during weekends.

When you are through with the guided tour of the dam, it's a good idea to take a look of the Dewey Short Visitor Center, get more information here about the dam's history and the memorable events that followed. Attractions and exciting activities are the things Table Rock Lake aren't short of. The lake features more than 100 resorts that make your vacation a wonderful one.  Your vacation on the lake will not be complete if you don't take a river adventure. There are 3 commercial boat cruises that operate in the Table Rock Lake. These boat cruises operate at varying locations to provide convenience to boaters.

If you want to fill your days this Valentine season with happiness while enjoying lots of attractions, visit the Table Rock Dam in Branson and stay at Thousand Hills Hotel & Resort.
