The Vigilante Extreme Ziprider is a exciting and daring new thrill ride. The launch of this thrilling ride starts from the open air deck of the Inspiration Tower. The Vigilante ZipRider whisks riders with adrenaline enjoying downhill ride over the 160 acre homestead of The Shepherd of the Hills. The ride travels ½ mile at the speed of 50 mph.
The ride swings above two hundred foot drop and you feel like your stomach plummet as you peer over the edge. Then you are thrust forward and you find yourself flying over the treetops of the Ozarks. The cold wind whips your face as you travel at a speed of fifty miles per hour, seeing below the trails, trees, barns, and occasional animal. You experience the feeling of a flight of a bird.
The Vigilante ZipRider was named after a group of vigilantes known as the Baldknobbers lived during the 1800s. The vigilantes formed Baldknobbers to protect against lawless elements in the Ozarks – but like other vigilante groups, they turned out bad, and used their status to pursue their interests that ranged from robberies to murder. The unique history of the vigilante group of Baldknobbers played a pivotal role in naming the ride with Vigilante Extreme ZipRider.
The ZipRider have four ziplines that all launch from the same station at the top of the Inspiration Tower. The riders sit in a special carriage that resembles a large carseat – the design is adjustable to fit riders from seventy-five pounds to two hundred seventy five pounds. Vigilante ZipRider does not conduct orientation before launching. The rider is simply strapped by a trained attendant into the harness and when the launch pad gate opens, the rider easily flies.
The riders have nothing to worry about brake system or speed adjustment as the patented ZipRider zip line cable controls the speed and braking. At the end of the ride, the terminal brake acceptor takes passenger to a halt. The brake acceptor is like a coil spring placed around the zipline cable – when the trolley enters the acceptor, the "spring" pushes together and creates resistance that stops the ZipRider.
The Vigilante Extreme ZipRider is not like traditional ziplines, it is more like a ride with comfortable sitting. The harness that holds the rider in the traditional zipline has to be reset after each run. With the patented retrieval system of the ZipRider, the seats are brought back up to the tower with the push of a button. The Vigilante Extreme ZipRider has the highest starting point 203 feet atop the Inspiration Tower. It is the highest point of any attraction of Zip Rider. Ride costs $28.64 per person to fly with the Vigilante Extreme ZipRider for the first time and $20 for additional ride.
