Taste the Award Winning Menu of Gettin' Basted
Dining in Branson is a great way to enjoy your vacation if you get the chance to taste the award winning foods of Getting’ Basted that topped the competitions they have joined. Armed with nothing more than a borrowed offset pit and a drive to become the best in their chosen field, Getting’ Basted jumped into the world of BBQ competition by entering Rock’N Ribs in Springfield, Missouri. This food entrepreneur punched their ticket to the World Food Championships in Las Vegas for their potato salad and finished 7th overall out of over 70 participants.
With over 40 Grand and Reserve Grand Championships and counting, Getting’ Basted continues to rack up countless wins and awards including winning the 2015 Kansas City BBQ Society’s Team of the Year in Chicken. It also got Rock’n Ribs Grand Champions in April 2013 and received top prize by beating 67 other participants at the Rock’N Ribs BBQ Festival in Springfield, Missouri. Gettin’ Basted’s Grand Championship winning performance included a perfect score in chicken. In September, 2012, Getting’ Basted got their first win. They scored the first category win by beating 63 other teams and taking home the top prize at Roots ’n Blues ’n BBQ in Colombia, Missouri.
Getting’ Basted received Chicken Team of the Year award in 2015. The same year, they finish on top of the world in chicken and 2nd in brisket. The first Getting’ Basted food trailer opens for business in September 2016. Their brand of championship Ozark’s BBQ is made available to the public in Springfield, Misssouri. Last March, 2017, Getting’ Basted have brought Kansas City-Style Barbecue to Branson and opened a new location. Come visit the place and enjoy their award winning food in the Starlite Theater on the Branson Strip. The beautiful location in Branson is just what owners Jason Roberts, Derrick Millugen and Brad Leighninger were looking for.
Along with its convenient location near the theater, Getting’ Basted is near the theater atrium and gift shop. Previously located inside the theater, Getting’ Basted has now moved into the vacated 1950s-style diner. With great features of white and black checkered floors and red vinyl booths and bar counter, you’ll now find the team’s trophies that are already on display. When the summer barbecue season was on full swing, Leighninger was often out most weekends competing in other states and sending trophies back to Branson.
Along with pulled pork, smoked prime brisket, Texas rope sausage and smoked bologna, barbecue fans can indulge in burgers, mac “n” cheese, wings and salads. St. Louis-style ribs are also served at Getting’ Basted. “People often associate a style with a flavor, but it’s often the cut of meat,” says Roberts. “The St. Louis-style ribs are meatier with more fat, so you get more flavor.” Gettin’ Basted is concentrating on the competitive style of cooking, meaning hot and fast.
When dining in Branson with friends who love barbecue, don’t miss to taste the award winning foods of Getting’ Basted.
